Postino’s Battle Of The Bruschetta Relies On Guest Voting

Move over tomatoes–the bruschetta title is up for grabs with French onion, Buffalo cauliflower, Philly Cheesesteak and Berry Mascarpone in the hunt

The “Battle of the Bruschetta” begins July 1 at Postino Wine Cafe locations in Little Italy (which recently opened) and Del Mar.

The guest-vote competition pits four limited-series bruschetta recipes against each other in a summer-long, bracket-style battle.

Traditionally, bruschetta is a mixture of chopped tomatoes, balsamic, basil and garlic, spooned over olive-oil brushed slices of bread.

In this competition, the nontraditional contestants are: French Onion (roasted garlic aioli, gruyere, braised white onions, melted brie), Buffalo Cauliflower (buffalo cauliflower, Cambozola ranch yogurt, celery, chives), Philly Cheesesteak (roasted garlic aioli, chopped steak, caramelized onion and peppers, fondue, chili oil), and Berry Mascarpone (blackberry mascarpone, graham cracker streusel, macerated blueberry, lemon, and powdered sugar).

Each battle will last for 30 days. The finals begin on September 30 and a winner will be crowned on September 16.

The champion bruschetta will earn a permanent spot on the Postino menu this fall.
