The exhibition “Give Peace a Chance: The Art of John Lennon” will visit the Exclusive Collections (EC) Gallery in downtown San Diego from February 9-28, 2024.
The touring exhibit showcases the art of former Beatles band member John Lennon. Local organizers say it’s a powerful message of hope and unity in a challenging modern world.
The show’s title reflects a worldwide call for peace and unity that was inspired by Lennon’s song “Imagine.”
The exhibition features a variety of mediums, including drawings, lithographs and photographs.
Lennon’s artwork predated his success with the Beatles and remained a passion throughout his years as a music legend. During his lifetime, he produced numerous series of sketches and lithographs, which were published starting in the early 1960s.
Lennon’s love for Yoko Ono inspired his work and this new exhibition. Ono, a neo-expressionist artist who helped spearhead a movement of peace and nonviolence, also has pieces on display.
Special receptions in the Gaslamp Quarter’s EC Gallery are planned for February 9 and 10. After that, the exhibition is free and open to the public.
