FACES & PLACES: San Diego Celebrates Year of Dragon At Chinese New Year Faire

Two-day celebration runs February 24-25 in the San Diego Asian Pacific Historic District near the Gaslamp Quarter

The San Diego Chinese New Year Faire, hosted by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, has been an annual downtown event since 1983.

This year’s theme: The Year of the Dragon.

Centered at 428 Third Avenue, the fair features traditional live music, food and colorful costumes.

The Sun’s photographer Sal Giametta was on hand to capture moments on Saturday, February 24. The two-day event continue on Sunday, the 25th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
