Get ready to celebrate. National Strawberry Day is Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Beloved for its juicy texture and sweet flavor and aroma, strawberries are among the most popular fruit. And so are ways to fit them into your breakfast.
Here are three places in downtown San Diego to try something different and fruity:
Fig Tree Cafe. Their seasonal special is Matcha & Strawberry Pancakes. Made with matcha-infused buttermilk pancakes, topped with green tea glaze, house-made whipped cream, and fresh strawberries. Open from 7 a.m. to 20 p.m., check ’em out in East Village, as well as Mission Valley, Liberty Station and Pacific Beach.
Spill the Beans. For a limited time only, there’s the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte. It infuses strawberry simple syrup, dark chocolate sauce, espresso and milk. Available at Seaport Village, the Gaslamp Quarter and Mission Valley.
Breakfast Republic. Open 365 days a year, BR is getting in the strawberry holiday spirit with Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Pancakes (buttermilk pancakes, house-made strawberry rhubarb compote, brown sugar streusel and sweet vanilla whipped cream). SDSun
