The Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival is scheduled to return to downtown’s bayfront this spring.
Previous fall headliners for Wonderfront have included Gwen Stefani, Zac Brown Band and Kings of Leon.
In partnership with the Port of San Diego and San Diego’s Tourism & Marketing Department, the festival will move from its traditional late-November slot to May 10-12 in 2024.
“This year’s move to May allows us to embrace the sunshine and create a unique atmosphere that enhances the overall Wonderfront experience,” festival managing partner Paul Thornton says .
The Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival premiered in 2019–only to be preempted for two years by the pandemic. It returned in 2022, then skipped 2023 for retooling.
The festival is now owned by La Jolla-based Events.com.
Wonderfront’s commitment to musical diversity remains strong, Thornton says. The event will span three days, with approximately 80 artists across seven stages activating the San Diego Bay waterfront.
The 2024 programming is set to deliver an eclectic lineup catering to various musical tastes, featuring established career headliners and emerging artists.
This year’s format is dedicated to more of a daily curated collection of artists highlighting genre-specific talent, grouped by individual days. And the festival will showcase emerging Dance & DJ talent on a new Club Lounge Stage.
The backdrop: a downtown bayfront festival area that’ll include yacht parties, local culinary delights, immersive acts, unique activations and art installations.
Wonderfront also promises to have free entertainment in Seaport Village. The festival’s team says it will program a free community stage for the entire weekend.
The initial lineup of Wonderfront performers could be announced in January 2024. One-day, two-day and three-day tickets will be available, along with VIP pass options.
