High-end grocery story Whole Foods Market, beloved by health-conscious individuals, is scheduled to open in downtown at 201 West A Street in downtown San Diego.
The new location is set to utilize 50,000 square feet of ground-floor and mezzanine space at the base of a new 34-story residential tower coming to the corner of Front & A.
The Front & A residential tower, which is under construction, is by Holland Partner Group. It’s expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
The new Whole Foods Market is projected to take up the majority of the ground floor of the development, as well as the building’s mezzanine level.
“We look forward to Whole Foods serving as a neighborhood amenity and furthering the growing connection between the western and central districts of downtown,” Holland Partners Group executive Brent Schertzer said in a statement.
The new Whole Foods will compete with the recently announced Sprouts Farmers Market, coming to the Campus at Horton later this year. A Ralphs in the Marina District and an Albertsons are the other two grocery stores that currently serve downtown San Diego residents. SDSun
