TwitchCon isn’t exactly Comic-Con Jr., but for the next few years be prepared for two annual doses of youth-dominated, internet-savvy crowds taking over downtown’s San Diego Convention Center.
TwitchCon’s 30,000 attendees recently departed the city after its September 20-22 convention. Before leaving, organizers announced that the show is locked up for San Diego through 2028.
What is TwitchCon? It’s billed as a semi-annual convention that salutes the worlds of live-streaming, esports, entertainment and internet culture.
The event celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025. TwitchCon is held twice a year, once each in Europe and North America. The North American version was held last year in Las Vegas and was in San Diego in 2022.
TwitchCon’s 2025 visit here will run from October 17-19.
In July, Comic-Con International held it’s 50th anniversary show at the convention center. The wildly popular event that celebrates a wide range of pop culture–from comic-books to super heroes–annually attracts more than 130,000 fans.
Comic-Con is under contract to hold it’s show in San Diego through 2026. SDSun
