The inaugural Taste of East Village is a two-day foodie event allowing ticket-buyers to roam the neighborhood trying out sample dishes from roughly three dozen local eateries.
It’s also a perfect way to field test restaurants you might be considering voting for in The San Diego Sun’s “Downtown Dining Readers’ Poll.”
“We’re excited to introduce the first-ever Taste of East Village,” East Village Association assistant district manager Ethan Olsen says. “East Village is home to a wide array of unique culinary gems.”
Check out cake parfaits, peach cobbler or banana pudding at Hey Sugar! Or, try a bacon-wrapped hot dog slice at Doggos Gus. And, lots of other treats.
Taste-Of events (all over the city) are a great way to try new dishes as well as meet neighbors and local business owners.
Taste of East Village takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30. Tickets to each night are $40/person.
Note: the slate of participating restaurants will be different each night. Here’s the latest information on eateries included on Day 1, and on Day 2.
You can buy tickets online for either or both nights. Ticket holders will need to check in onsite to get a Taste Passport that includes a map of the eateries. The August 29 check-in site is the new Radian (675 Ninth Avenue); August 30 check in takes place at Park 12 (100 Park Avenue).

As noted above, the dates of Taste of East Village overlap with the voting period for The Sun’s Downtown Dining Readers’ Poll. There are 25 categories in the poll (including Best Restaurant in East Village).
