Forever Balboa Park recently announced its annual sPARK Awards: Celebrating Innovation in Balboa Park. The awards recognize the people and organizations that amplify Balboa Park’s distinct role and public impact.
The three award categories were Igniting Innovation, Crossing Boundaries, and Enhancing Ecosystems. The winners were:
Igniting Innovation. San Diego Automotive Museum | IGNITE Academy
The program combines career exploration, independent research, and skill-building through project-based, hands-on learning to prepare students for internships and other pathways to successful careers in the automotive industry. The IGNITE program is ideal for students getting ready to enter high school and recent high school graduates, and provides mentorship, guidance and early career exposure and experience.
Crossing Boundaries. Museum of Us and Friends of Friendship Park | Border Wall Preservation Project

Enhancing Ecosystems. CleanUp Kitsune
CleanUp Kitsune (kit-soo-nay) is a partnership project presented by Allgoods. It’s performance art designed to generate waste awareness through culture and creativity. CleanUp Kitsune can be found at parks, events and various gatherings, collecting trash and littering kindness.
Forever Balboa Park is the leading nonprofit organization partnering with the City of San Diego, community organizations, and the public to enhance all 1,200 acres of Balboa Park. Its focus is to sustain the park’s legacy, enrich its assets, and collaborate with park stakeholders to envision and execute initiatives that benefit both residents and visitors. SDSun
