The one-way fare to ride the San Diego-Coronado Ferry rose in June 2024 to $9, meaning it will now cost nearly $20 to make the roundtrip excursion from downtown San Diego to Coronado.
The one-way fare rose a dollar from last year and is up from $5 just three years ago.
Ferry operator Flagship Enterprises told the California Public Utilities Commission the increase was due to rising costs of fuel and other expenses.
People who bring bicycles onboard the ferry rides–which take about 20 minutes each way–will not be charged extra.
Children under four years old will continue to ride for free.
In the past, the ferry ride has made many lists of best things to do in downtown San Diego, for both tourists and locals.
It remains to be seen how the constant price increases will affect popularity. SDSun
