The results are in. Hundreds of The San Diego Sun readers voted in 25 categories for our inaugural “Downtown Dining Readers’ Poll.”
We’re releasing the names of winners over the course of three days.
Thursday, October 19: The neighborhood-specific top vote getters from East Village, Little Italy, Cortez Hill, Gaslamp Quarter, Marina District and Core Columbia.
Friday, October 20: Winners for Best Date Night/Romantic, Fine Dining, Food/Music Combo, Cheap Eats, Steakhouse, Italian, Seafood, Pizza, Mexican and Sushi categories.
Saturday, October 21: Winners for Best Overall, New, View, Coffee House, Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and Dessert categories.
Below are the restaurants that readers helped pick from within six downtown (92101) neighborhoods: East Village, Little Italy, Cortez Hill, Gaslamp Quarter, Marina District and Core Columbia.
Ah, Core Columbia. Judging from the poll entries, this is the least geographically identifiable neighborhood in downtown San Diego. The borders of Cortez Hill are also a little sketchy, apparently.
No matter. We checked maps and sorted it all out. The work made us hungry–and luckily, we have a resource for finding the most-recommended restaurants all over downtown.
