VideoStand-Up Comedy In The Gaslamp Quarter

Check out the laughs at the Mr. Tempo multiplex at Fifth and G inside the third-floor comedy club

Laughter and luxury are two of my favorite things.

If you’re of a like mind, you’ll want to find your way to National Lampoon: The Yellow Door, an upscale comedy club in the Gaslamp Quarter.

The Yellow Door is on the third floor of the massive Mr. Tempo complex, at the corner of Fifth Avenue and G Street. The comedy club is a hidden gem inside this muti-level entertainment center.

I grabbed a cocktail before a show (there’s also a food menu). A talented lineup had me laughing out loud so much that my cheeks were aching (in a good way).

Showtimes are usually Wednesday through Sunday. Open Mic Nights are Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

This Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m. is Tag Night. Tag is an interactive comedy show where four comics perform their “A” material, new jokes or crowd work but a second mic is set up during the set. That second mic is for other comics to interrupt with a new punchline or “tag.”

Saturday, March 29 brings a one-and-a-half-hour stand-up comedy show to the stage (lineup subject to change).

Go get your checks achy!
