LIVING IN THE CITY: Working From Home

Looking back on The Sun’s popular downtown resident profile series, here’s the latest in a series of single-focus compilations
Nili and Gili Peretz.

Every one of our profiles starts this way: “Living In The City” is The San Diego Sun’s feature Q&A with downtown San Diego residents. It’s a way to get to know the city by meeting the people who live here.

Over the past two-plus years, 55 people have participated in this ongoing Living In The City series.

Here’s a new angle. We’ve taken one question out of the lengthy LITS questionnaire and complied a half dozen answers from residents in various downtown neighborhoods.

We picked a half dozen takes from downtown dwellers on their ability and desire to work from home:

“Yes, our work is mainly virtual, except for live seminars and workshops we deliver around the world. We love our home. It’s full of natural light, a beautiful view for inspiration, and perfect space for our needs. We sometimes work together but both have separate work spaces.”

TRICIA MOORE, EAST VILLAGE

Tricia Moore.

“I do it sometimes, but I like being in the office. I’m up at 4:30/5 a.m., walk my dog, run or hit the gym and start by 9-ish. I read financial and political news to start the day. Not much for mediation or journaling in the morning.”

JEANA WALLACE, EAST VILLAGE

Jeana Wallace and Breaks.

“I wake up, walk [my dog] Breaks and commute from my living room to my home office. Trying to save the world by insuring one person at a time. I specialize in creative approaches for small businesses (under 100 employees). Plans are rich in benefits and low in premiums. Happy to be a resource with no obligations to thesandiegosun.com readers. It’s my mission to at least point people in the right direction.”

WHITNEY TREADWELL

Whitney Treadwell and Alicia Hopkins.

“I was recently hired as director of technology project management at Jack in the Box Restaurants. Am currently remote and interact for work via Zoom and/or MS Teams. Looking forward to getting back to the office, likely on a hybrid schedule.”

SHAY PRIYADARSHI, MARINA DISTRICT

Shay Priyadarshi and daughter.

“My company was remote before COVID. Depending on the day, I get the kid up, wake her up again, and take her to school. Work till whenever—taking breaks to pick-up the kid, grab lunch with friends/colleagues, play tennis, get a workout or go for Happy Hour.”

EMILY MASON, EAST VILLAGE

Emily Mason.

“I wake up at 4:30 a.m. and am at the gym by 5. Then it’s drink coffee, walk dog, do chores, work, repeat.” SDSun
