Thousands of people came out to Balboa Park on Thanksgiving to run, walk and trot in the 24th annual “Neighbors in Need” event sponsored by Father Joe’s Villages.
All event proceeds fund meals for families and individuals struggling with food insecurity. The goal for the day was to raise $550,000.
“At Father Joe’s Villages, we believe that no one should have to go hungry or be alone during this time of the year,” said Deacon Jim Vargas, President and CEO of Father Joe’s Villages.
San Diego Sun photographer Sal Giametta was out on this picture postcard day to capture the smiling faces and turkey costumed participants.
