FACES & PLACES: Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp Quarter

Three days of celebrating in downtown San Diego’s entertainment district kicked off with colorful costumes and bountiful booze

Dozens of of downtown San Diego bars and restaurants in and around the Gaslamp Quarter are doing it Big Easy-style for a three-day celebration of Mardi Gras.

To get the party started, the beads were flying and the booze was flowing on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023.

The bar-hopping celebration continues on Saturday, Feb. 18 and Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 6 p.m. to midnight both nights.

Each evening, the kickoff location is American Junkie (628 Fifth Avenue), where patrons can pick up club passes, drink tickets and credentials. Get tickets here.

Dozens of downtown bars are participating in the bar crawls, including Garage, Madam Bonnie’s, Parq, Tin Roof, Vin De Syrah and plenty of others.
