FACES & PLACES: 5 Tons Of Crawfish & The Ass Pocket Whiskey Fellas

Gator By The Bay is the only downtown San Diego festival serving heaps of New Orleans seafood and nine San Diego Music Awards winners
Rebel, rebel! All Gator By The Bay photos by Sal Giametta.

This four-day celebration of food, music and all things N’awlins Big Easy started May 11, 2023, and runs through Mother’s Day (May 14) at Spanish Landing Park (off Harbor Drive near San Diego International Airport).

There are plenty of food options at Gator By The Bay, including the 10,000 pounds of Louisiana crawfish organizers truck to town.

Expect seven stages with more than 100 musical acts performing Zydeco, blues, rockabilly, swing and New Orleans jazz.

On those stages, look for nine acts that were recent winners at the 32nd annual San Diego Music Awards:

Jeff Berkley & The Banned (Artist of the Year & Best Country/Americana Album), Kimmi Bitter (Best Country/Americana Artist), The Farmers (Best Rock Artist), Anthony Cullins (Best Blues Artist), Sandollar (Best World Music Album), Ash Easton (Best New Artist), Daring Greatly (Song of the Year), Joshua Taylor (Best Pop Album & Best Rock/Alternative Song) and last but not least, the cheekily named Ass Pocket Whiskey Fellas (Best Local Recording). Cheers!
