VideoCatch Up On Oscar Nominated Films At Digital Gym Cinema

“The Brutalist,” “Conclave,” and “No Other Land” will be screening downtown during February at this hidden gem theater

There are hidden gems on the second floor of the UC San Diego Park & Market building at the corner of 11th & Market in East Village. Downtown San Diego’s Digital Gym Cinema is open year-round for daily showings of independent and foreign films.

During my first of what will be many visits, I watched Anora, which has been nominated for six Academy Awards. The Oscars will be handed out on March 2. Before the ceremony, you could visit Digital Gym Cinema to watch nominees: The Brutalist (February 14-20); Conclave (February 21-27); and No Other Land (February 21-27).

The theater is intimate, with just 54 seats. A concession stand sells fresh popcorn, snacks and beverages, including beer and wine.

The Digital Gym Cinema was founded by the Media Arts Center San Diego. It opened its doors in 2013 in North Park and reopened downtown in 2022.

On any given week you can enjoy films from established masters and the newest voices in the film world. You can catch a showcase of cult classics every Tuesday, enjoy film festivals, and rent out the theater for private events.
