I’m roughly 10 years late to this East Village party, but very excited to have fallen into the world of CreativeMornings.
It’s a breakfast lecture series founded by Tina Roth-Eisenberg in New York in 2008. The San Diego chapter got up and running 10 years ago. It’s free to attend, coffee and donuts are served there’s always a free lecture dedicated to inspiring the creative community.
“The lectures are about something that will help get people to the next step in their industry or career,” says CreativeMornings host Ramel Wallace. “We have graphic designers, architects, and we welcome all spheres of creativity. We see everyone as a creative.”
Wallace says this once-a-month networking gathering regularly attracts 200-300 people, sometimes up to 400. He says there are 238 chapters around the world and San Diego ranks as the eighth biggest chapter.
A member of the CreativeMornings volunteer core team, Devora Maximova got involved because she wanted to get back into community after Covid.
She says the event is able to spotlight local talent, especially during the “30-Second Pitches” activity. Anyone can sign up and come on stage to give the entire audience a 30-second pitch about their company or themselves.
“We witness connections all the time,” Maximova says. “Our sponsor Big Brothers/Big Sisters, gets solid engagement. At one event I believe they got 16 signups.”
Wallace recalls that one 30-second pitcher reported that 20% of the audience signed up with him after his speech.
CreativeMornings convenes on the last Friday of every month, at the commons and theater space at the entrance to the San Diego Central Library.
The next meeting is March 28 at 8:15 a.m. For more information, go to: CreativeMornings. SDSun
