Check In To Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter’s Christmas Themed Room

It’s a little piece of home when you’re traveling, or a spot for a family stayover in downtown San Diego

It’s the kind of hotel room Will Farrell’s Elf character would demand to stay in.

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, it’s time to present stories focused on the most-famous holiday at the end of the year. To that goal, the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter has decorated one of its Lofts on Fifth suites as a Christmas themed room.

It starts with a wreath on a guest room door and a Happy Holidays floor mat outside. The room has a fully lighted Christmas tree with faux presents under it, stockings hung on the closet door, red and green pillows and other accouterments like candles, mini trees and lots of boughs of holly.

This certainly is not the first hotel guest room to ever get a holiday makeover. It is the first such room I’ve ever set foot in. Ditto for Davidson Hospitality Group Area Marketing Manager Becca Bishop, who covers both the Hilton and the Margaritaville Hotel San Diego.

“We’ve had lots of groups do stayovers,” Bishop says. “It’s popular. It’s for staycations, or families, or a corporate traveler who wants to enjoy a little piece of home while on the road.”

Lofts on Fifth is a separate tower connected to the Gaslamp Hilton’s main building. A night in the Christmas room ranges from $319 to $400.

A stay comes with complimentary hot cocoa kits, a pair of comped cocktails, bath amenities and free late checkout.

The Hilton is having a holiday party with downtown San Diego partners in the lobby on December 11. The star party guest will be Santa Claus himself.

I ask if he’ll stay over in the room.

“I can’t say,” Bishop says. “He may have to get back to the North Pole. But if he needs to stay we have a place for him.”

The decorated room opened November 10 and will be available to first-booked, first-served guests through January 2, 2026. SDSun
