Our publication offers a variety digital advertising opportunities in our newsletters and website including presenting sponsorships, display ads, and content. Please note, advertising with The San Diego Sun must be confirmed before ad content is submitted. Ads will only run once payment has been received. When booking advertising with The San Diego Sun, ensure you are doing so well in advance so inventory does not sell out.

Deadlines

Ad content must be submitted a minimum of 3 business days prior to the publication. If an image file is inconsistent with The San Diego Sun’s ad specifications, the ad will be returned to the advertiser for modification. If content is submitted late or incorrectly, the advertiser risks having their ad not run or run as is.

Proofs

A screenshot proof of your ad will be sent for approval a minimum of one day before publication of the newsletter. If no response is received from the advertiser by the end of the day, the ad will be considered approved and will be published.

Best Practices

○ Limit text on your image, make sure that no more than 30% of the image has text.

○ Limit the number of logos on your image.

○ Ad should contain a single, simple action for customers to take, i.e. “Click here to buy tickets”

A screenshot of your display ad will be sent for review once the display ad is live. Links will be tested internally.

○ Keep text as large as possible
○ Ad should contain a single, simple action for customers
○ No more than one logo


Content Underwriting

All underwritten content will be included in perpetuity on The San Diego Sun website, and each article will be included in one newsletter.

Formatting

Transparency is important to The San Diego Sun. All underwritten content will be labeled as such and will include sponsor recognition at the top and the bottom of the article.

Deadlines

Underwritten content topics must be approved in advance to ensure The San Diego Sun has the capacity to execute.

Proofs

As a content underwriter, you will be financially supporting independent editorial coverage without being involved in the actual development of content. Because of this, no proofs will be sent.

Best Practices

○ Include a UTM with your link that is unique to each underwritten content article
○ Include The San Diego Sun logo on your website to promote your community involvement
○ Share the underwritten content article(s) on your social media channels
