The San Diego Sun welcomes readers to help determine the best restaurants in downtown San Diego. Announcing our first-ever Downtown Dining Readers’ Poll!
Some of the top eateries in Greater San Diego are clustered in neighborhoods in the 92101 ZIP Code. The urban selection process is simple: Click the link below. Vote for your favorites in 25 categories. Everyone who participates is eligible to win great prizes.
Our first round of prizes will be a pair of tickets ($110 value) to cruise San Diego Bay on the Triton, San Diego’s newest and largest catamaran yacht. We’ll be choosing a new winner every week. (Prize winners will be picked once a week and notified by email. You must respond within 48 hours, or a new winner will be selected.)
Whether you’re a downtown resident, work here, or visit the city with friends and family, you likely have a go-to spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Win a prize for sharing your insights. Or, discover great new restaurants based on the poll’s findings.
Note: Winners in The San Diego Sun’s Dining Awards program will be 100% based on reader input.
Voting is open now! The polls will close October 1, 2023, at noon PST. Results will be revealed in mid-October.
We want to know which restaurants you think are the Best Overall, Best New (opened in 2023) and offer the Best View. These eateries could be anywhere in the city (within the 92101 ZIP Code).
For another set of categories, we want your advice specifically on the best restaurants in the neighborhoods of East Village, Little Italy, Cortez Hill, Gaslamp Quarter, Marina District and Core-Columbia. Here’s a map.
The rest of the categories are a citywide (92101-based) competition for:
- Best Coffeehouse, Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner & Dessert.
- Best Date Night/Romantic, Food & Music Combo, Cheap Eats & Fine Dining.
- And of course, Best Italian, Seafood, Steakhouse, Pizza, Mexican & Sushi.
We’re keeping the voting rules simple:
- One vote per person for each category.
- Submit picks in AT LEAST TWO CATEGORIES, including Best Overall restaurants.
- All restaurants must be located in the 92101 ZIP Code.
- Voting closes October 1, 2023, at noon PST.
- Results will be published in mid-October.
