A MASK MANDATE is in place. Attendees will have to show proof of vaccination. Finally, though, after a two-year summer hiatus due to the pandemic, Comic-Con International returns to it’s place in the center of the universe at the San Diego Convention Center.
The 2022 version of Comic-Con is expected to attract close to 130,000 pop-culture-loving attendees. Many coming this year rolled over tickets bought for the 2020 show, cancelled due to COVID-19.
The Con program offers more than 2,000 interactive activities, celebrity panels and superhero-centric pursuits. A large number of related activities spill out of the convention center and pop up in the surrounding Gaslamp Quarter neighborhood.
The show officially runs from July 21-24. Wednesday, July 20, was Preview Night. Similar to bygone years, lower Fifth Avenue near the convention center drew onlookers hoping to gawk at the opening display of colorful cosplay.
