Torrey Pines is a beautiful place to hike, just 20-25 minutes north of San Diego in Carlsbard. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to check out its gorgeous trails in which sand mountains (buttes and everything) meet the dessert and the ever blue skies and the mirroring sea.
I recommend hiking after 11am, as there can be a morning fog leading to a view of the somewhat lackluster ghost ocean as opposed to the stunning orange-red striated sandstones that stand directly contrary to the bright blue sky.
Go in the 3-4pm period and you’ll probably wind up descending from the mountains down to the beach right along sunset. There, I promise you my friends that the sand is glistening in black and gold and it’s worth it to take off your shoes and feel the slightly shocking but refreshing ocean waves move over yours angles and toes.
I decided to start the New Year with a hike here. Here are some photos from what turned out to be a fabulous opening to 2019 to help get you jazzed. Any questions? Let me know!
